Binge watching, Sufjan Stevens and a photo walk #littleloves

This week has felt much lighter and much more positive, I’ve even found it hard to decide what to include and what to leave out rather than having to struggle to find what to write – such a difference to last week!

I am failing massively in my quest to read more this year and I’m not even half way through The Muse that I started last month! When I’m feeling blah it’s much easier to crash out in front of Netflix than a book. Hopefully now I’m feeling in a better place I can pick up The Muse again and really enjoy it.

I have made a start on Belonging and Becoming and so has my husband. We’ve decided to read a chapter a week and work through it together. It’s part of being more intentional and conscious of the way we parent and the family culture we’ve created and want to cultivate. I’ll definitely be doing a full review of this book when we’ve finished it, though that could take a while!

Well I’ve managed to plough my way through the whole of Parks and Recreation and I loved every second of it. I’m you’ve got Amazon and love a comedy then I suggest you check it out. It has Amy Poehler (love her) Aziz Ansari and Chris Pratt amongst others and is up there with my favourite ever shows. Hmm.. I’ve done that like again where I talk something up massively.. here’s hoping you agree with me!

We don’t watch a lot of tv together as a couple but this week we’ve started the Santa Clarita Diet, the new big show to hit Netflix which stars Drew Barrymore. I’ll admit it took a couple of episodes for me to warm to it and get my head around it but now I’m really enjoying it. I’m looking forward to watching more over the weekend.

The girls and I have been loving watching the show, The Amazing World of Gumball. One of the great things about the kids getting older is that the programmes and films they choose can actually be interesting and fun to watch as a grown up too. Gumball is set in the 90s too which is why N thinks I love it so much! It’s so fun to curl up on the sofa with my girls and giggle along with them.

I’ve made nothing worth noting down here I’m afraid! I promise to do better next week.

For a long time now Jenny and I have talked about doing our own mini photo walk and finally this week we got around to doing it. We had a wander in a city local to us and had loads of fun snapping away and trying to not feel to self conscious when it was our turn to be in front of the camera and not behind it! It’s amazing how many little gems of places you can find even in a place that is so familiar to you. I’m going to do a separate post all about it but here are a few shots especially for this ‘wore’ section.

As always I’ve had my trusty Spotify app on as I tap away on my laptop and here are a few tracks that have stood out to me from my daily mixes this week.

You might recognise this one from This Is Us if you watch it. I’ve loved Sufjan for many years now and love his creativity and gentle spirit.

The next one I want to share is, Billie Marten and her song Heavy Weather. I love the breathy tone to her voice and the way her songs are produced. They feel so raw and beautiful.

I love your and jenny’s photowalk, what great idea. I would feel self conscious too but I suppose it’s easier after the first few shots – or ten!! I love your new hair colour too. We are fans of Gumball in this house and I’m glad I don’t have to sit through episodes of Bob the Builder anymore. Flo likes to watch Barbie movies, on her own!! ha. xx recently posted…Veganuary – how did it go?My Profile

I’m looking forward to reading your review of the parenting book, I’m doing an Incredible Years course at work soon and have also read positive reviews of Parenting the Danish way (not sure if that’s the exact title) Any help and inspiration on parenting would be great, we’ve passed the toilet training and younger years but its those tween years which are becoming quite challenging some days. We seem to have challenging or amazing days and not much in between! Those photos are lovely, its nice to capture a time and a place, it would be interesting to repeat the walk in 10 or 20 years time.

Glad you’re feeling better this week. You always read such interesting books, I’ve added that one to my (ever-growing) list. I’m intrigued (and also slightly jealous that your husband reads with you!). You must listen to a group called Daughter, that feature in my Little Loves this week, I have a feeling you’ll love them. Gorgeous photos! Enjoy your weekend xx

Glad this week has been better than last. Loving your photo walk pics, wish I was brave enough to do that, I’m way too self conscious. I’ve just finished Santa Clarita Diet, definitely took a while to warm up to as it’s just plain weird, but definitely good once you get into it. Have a great weekend x

My big brother recommended Sufjan Stevens to me(more specifically the album he wrote about his mother) we’ve been saying goodbye to ours for a while now as she is very ill (not something I really mention much) and I always pop that album on when I want a good cry! I’ll have to check out Billie Marten! xx
