Blossom, a date and meeting our baby niece #LittleLoves

Signs of Spring are appearing everywhere now aren’t they. We had one beautifully sunny day this week and I must say my mood improved hugely when there were no clouds in the sky. It’s incredible how much the weather and the time of year impact how I feel. I’ve definitely felt more productive and dare I say it a little more organised. Fingers crossed that this continues!

Are you ready for more? Grab a cuppa and enjoy my Little Loves, don’t forget you can read lots of other bloggers’ Little Loves by clicking on the linky at the end.

  read

This week it’s over to my girls, I’ve bought them a few new inspirational books and they have had their heads in them ever since.

Women in Science has gone down so well with my eldest, and I can’t wait to nab it and have a read for myself. I think it’s so important to surround your children with inspiration.

As for me I’ve read a little more of The Portable Veblen and it’s not really like anything I’ve read before. I think I need to read a couple more chapters to better understand it, I am intrigued though.

watched

I’ve unashamedly binge watched the new season of LOVE on Netflix and enjoyed it even more than the first. It reminds me of Girls with it’s dysfunctional millennial relationships but I must admit the characters are more likeable than those in Girls.

I don’t know about you bu was underwhelmed with the ending of the BBCs The Replacement, in fact through out the three episodes I felt that it could be so much more. I wasn’t the acting, that was fantastic, maybe the writing or plot? I’m not sure. It was as if it didn’t quite reach its potential, though I’m sure I’m probably in the minority with this view. Did you see it? What did you think?

I watched the first episode of Big Little Lies on Sky and until I read that it was an adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s book of the same name I just hadn’t put the two together. Silly really, as I’ve read the book and everything! Even though I read it while on holiday a couple of years ago I can’t really remember what happened which will mean I’ll be able to enjoy it more. I was bowled over by the cast, I mean, how stellar? Did you watch it?

MAde

Prepare yourself for the tenuous link here. We ‘made’ the journey down south early on Saturday morning to meet our new baby niece. No one was more excited than our biggest girl, as the eldest cousin she remembers most of her cousins being born and held them all when they were tiny. I just love this snapshot of her proudly holding her newest cousin.

Even E plucked up the courage to tentatively hold her cousin, though practically threw her in the air when she was sick! Luckily myself and my sister in law were sat either sat of her so were able to catch the baby. I think it’s put E off from babies for a while.

wore

A lot less layers! It’s been so refreshing to do the school run with sunglasses and a bomber jacket instead of a million layers, a scarf and a waterproof jacket. Though, glancing out of the window while writing this it’s looking rather grey and gloomy so I think we’ve got a rather rainy weekend ahead of us which is a shame.

I did an H&M shop for the girls the other day, just basics like trackies, hoodies and trainers but of course I couldn’t resist slinging something in for myself.. this rather bright beauty.

This yellow shopper is the perfect size for my laptop and everything else that I need in the day. I sling it all in and off I go. As much as I’m a lover of black clothes, it is nice to have a pop of colour in my accessories.

.heard

I have so much to list here it’s ridiculous! I’m trying to get into listening to podcasts instead of watching tv on my iPad. After being recommended Sara Tasker’s interview on the Blogtacular podcast by Kerry, I listened to it while going for a run on Tuesday morning. I love Sara’s instagram – Me_and_Orla and have watch it grow exponentially over the last few years. Off the back of the podcast I signed up to Sara’s mailing list and subscribed to her podcast. I also listened to the Blogtacular interview with another Instagram favourite of mine Allison Sadler of The People Shop. Both interviews are so inspirational, I love how creativity flows through Allison’s family and their business and how the work-family balance is challenged by their lifestyle.

Music wise I’ve had a rather eclectic week, I’ve continued with my love of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and in particular this track that I heard on one of the Love episodes I watched earlier in the week.

Other than that the Maccabees have been a favourite.

and lastly

We had such a fun date night at the Gin Festival last Friday night, it was at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, such a decadent setting! After enjoying lots of gin we called into Lytham on the way home for a rather later dinner, thankfully the girls were sleeping over at a friends so we didn’t need to rush home so relieve a babysitter.

We’re off to Manchester for a family day out tomorrow so pop along and follow our day on Instagram Stories. We’re getting the train there which my girls are stupidly excited about. Public transport is their jam! We’re going to visit an art gallery and grab some lunch in the Northern Quarter, and of course there’ll be some shopping too.

Here are my favourites from this week’s #LittleLoves community on Instagram, I love that they are getting lighter and brighter with spring on its way.

I completely agree about the ending of The Replacement, so disappointing and so many avenues left unexplored. Such a shame as the storyline was such a good one! #LittleLoves

What a great pic of your eldest and her cousin! (Also, a funny mental image of E chucking the baby back when she was sick!) I love your new bag. Have a great weekend! x

Oh your beautiful niece Congratulations and so so sweet. Making me broody all over again. You forget how tiny they really are at first. Sounds like you had a great time at the Gin festival and late night dinner is always a bonus too. Hooray for sleepovers. Love the new yellow bag. Always nice to get a treat yourself too. #littleloves

Oh my goodness the cast in Big Little Lies were fantastic, and that bag! I love the colour. I love the idea of your weekend, G loves the train too. I’ll have to check the podcast out seen as I’ve booked my ticket! Have a lovely weekend x

Love your bag!!! Gorgeous colour! I loved the Replacement BUT there was definitely something dissapointing about it. It was hyped up to be something brilliant and I was a little deflated at the ending. The acting was spot on though! Your new baby niece is utterly adorable! Congratulations! Have a wonderful weekend xx

I am glossing over anything to do with The Replacement as we still have the last episode to watch. I must admit we have been gripped from the start, and I have no idea how it will end. Love the picture of your eldest with her new baby cousin. The gin festival in the tower ballroom sounds a wonderful evening, and I love nights when you don’t have to rush back for the kids. Have a lovely day out in Manchester tomorrow x

The Gin Festival sounds fab, I’m a little sad I didn’t know about it otherwise I’d have dragged my hubby along! I have been meaning to catch up on Big Little Lies all week, glad to know it didn’t disappoint. Sounds like you had a fab week overall x

I’ve recorded the replacement but not watched any yet. All the negative reviews of the last episode are putting me off watching the series at all. I loved big little lies. Like you I have read the book but I can not remember anything about it. Love your bag. I’m enjoying blogtacular podcasts too. The sunshine was much appreciated. Back to cold and wet today.

The Women in Science book sounds brilliant, I may have to read that one.
The ending of the Replacement was such a damp squib, what was the writer thinking?
Aww, catching the baby. Good tale to tell in the future 🙂
Thanks for hosting and prompting me to finally get Netflix!

I think I love everything about your #littleloves this week! I did laugh at E practically throwing her baby cousin in the air, my little one would do exactly the same. Gorgeous photo of N holding her though. That bag is gorgeous too! I saw one I liked earlier and the teen told me I was ‘too old’ for it – it’s not like it was a crop top, it was a bag! Kids! That Women in Science book looks amazing, my teen would have loved that when she was the same age. I’m going to have to check out those podcasts, I never end up listening to any and have a whole list of the saved. Have a lovely time in Manchester x

What a lovely picture of your eldest with her cousin, a new baby in the family is always so special. It seems like you’ve been really busy! I love your new yellow bag, although I would fill it up to the brim if I had a big bag to carry round with me! Have a lovely time in Manchester, enjoy xx

Your niece is so gorgeous – it’s lovely to have a new baby in the family isn’t it? I really need to watch Big Little Lies, I didn’t read the book too long ago but can’t imagine a book being made into a series, looking forward to it! x

Those books look fabulous for little girls in fact they are ones that I’d love my boys to read too. I’m loving yellow too at the minute and i love to brighten up an outfit with bright accessories. It did make me chuckle to hear that E has been put off babies by the puking i’m pretty sure i caught P from being launched by his brother and cousins a few times. I must admit to never enjoying Gin until the last few months and i’ve been really enjoying it-my taste has obviously matured! x

I love the books your girls read, that’s another title to add to our list. I would love for Little Man to have inspiring reads too, it seems that current boys books of heroes are football players. That bag is amazing! Congratulations on your new little niece.

Your bag is gorgeous! Newborn cuddles are the absolute best. I’ve travelled to my sisters newborn this week and you do completely forget how small they were! I really want to watch LOVE and Big Little Lies. You’re the third person thats mentioned them so they must be good! I love what books you’re reading too. I think my #LittleLoves reading list is getting way too long now. xx

  • Suzanne - March 23, 2017 reply

You absolutely had to squeeze your new baby niece in there somewhere! I am a huge fan of blossom so love your picture at the top. I’ve not yet watched the last episode of The Replacement so no spoilers – that’s on the cards for this evening. x
