The Essex Serpent, a re-style and lots of sunshine #LittleLoves

Today was supposed to be moving day but unfortunately due to a delay in paper work we’re now moving later in the month. I must admit I am disappointed, but at least we’re still moving and I’ve got a few extra days to pack up.

Are you ready for some positivity? Grab a cuppa and enjoy my Little Loves, don’t forget you can read lots of other bloggers’ Little Loves by clicking on the linky at the end.

  read

I’ve finished The Girl of Ink and Stars and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though it’s technically a YA novel and actually won Waterstones Children’s Book Of the Year 2017, I’d still recommend it to us grown ups. The descriptive imagery is wonderful and the plot just complex enough. My nine year old tried to read it last year but couldn’t follow it, she wants to give it a go again now though.

After reading on Halina’s blog a recommendation for The Essex Serpent I popped on Amazon and Primed it, and I’m so pleased that I did. I’m only a few chapters in but will do a full review when I’ve finished it.

I’m honoured to have been featured in a series called Her Wisdom hosted by Karen over on 365 Pearls of Wisdom. I’ve known Karen since the early days of my blogging back in 2012, we’ve even met in real life at Britmums and shared a few coffees and giggles over glasses of win in the evenings. I enjoy reading this series and was so pleased when Karen got in touch and asked if I’d like to be interviewed for it. You can pop over and have a read here.

watched

I’ve not watched a lot of television this week, it seems to be that funny in between time of things finishing but new things not quite starting, well apart from the eagerly anticipated Jamestown on Sky. Both the mister and I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next one.

We rented Passengers on Wednesday night and I loved it way more than I expected to. The trailer doesn’t give much of the story away, which these days is so rare, which meant the story line was a nice surprise.

I’ve also had a little Youtube catch up this week with Katie-Mummy Daddy Me, Fritha -Tigerlilly Quinn and The Michalaks.

MAde

This week I took the plunge and made the decision to get my fringe cut back in. If you’ve followed my blog for a long time you’ll know that I had a full fringe for quite a while a couple of years ago. I had my colour booked for Wednesday and while I was there I asked my lovely hairdresser to do my fringe, all the while crossing my fingers making sure I made the right choice!

copper hair trend

We also ‘made’ the most of the gorgeous weather we’re having up North and on Sunday had a lovely pub lunch out after church. It’s not far from our new home and as you can see it’s surrounded my beautiful countryside.

wore

I’m all about the high waisted Mom jeans at the moment, they are so comfy, and you know me, comfort always plays a big part in my clothing choices! I’m not one to suffer for fashion. As you can see these were taken before the hair style change.

Breton top and sunglasses – H&M

Belt – Vintage

Jeans – Primark

A big thanks to Jenny for taking these photos, we had a fun day together on Wednesday with a well over due catch up!

.heard

HAIM are back! I’ve been enjoying getting back into them on Spotify this week.

and lastly

Instead of unpacking the house we’ll be having a slow family weekend, which to be honest is definitely needed!

Normally I share a collage of nine of my favourites from the #littleloves community on Instagram but I’m changing things up and just choosing one each week now. Partly this is because I don’t like having a grid photo on my feed (!!) but also I get bored easily and like to shake things up a bit! So head on over and see which photo is being featured this week. I’ll probably share a few more over on IG Stories. If you’re on Instagram and want to join in, it’s so easy just use the hashtag #littleloves on any photo that shows something little that you love – so that can be pretty much anything! I then share my favourites from the week on here and on my Instagram every Friday.

Sorry to hear about the moving date setback. Moving house is so stressful it’s seems like you are waiting ages then all of a sudden everything is happening at once. I loved Passengers especially the ending and Jamestown definitely has lots of potential. Have a lovely weekend x

The fringe looks amazing as do you in the photos Jenny took You babe!! I know what you mean about the grid on Instagram. I’m all about uniformity and it drives me slightly mad 😉

  • Emily and Indiana - May 12, 2017 reply

So sorry the move hasn’t gone as planned, but fingers crossed it just means things will go even smoother when the day does come! Loveee the fringe, it really suits you! After suffering through a terrible fringe as a little girl I could never go back, so I’m always jealous of people who can pull it off haha xx

Ahh – I hope the move goes really well when it does happen. Hopefully you can enjoy a more relaxing weekend than you had originally planned. I love your fringe! I’ve actually decided over the last couple of weeks that I’d like one again, and was so tempted at my hairdressers the other day – but luckily I was sensible and decided to wait until after my holiday!

Those jeans really suit you; I wasn’t expecting to them to be Primark either. I’ve never found any Primark jeans that fit me but I’ll have to look again; they’re lovely. Where are your leopard print sandals from? Love them too. And I bloody love that first picture of you! You look so lovely. Hope you enjoy your weekend xxx

I love your new hair and have major fringe envy. I keep toying with having mine back but I know it drives me potty in summer, especially when we are on holiday so I may want until the Autumn. Loving the jeans too!

Ah what a shame about the house move, fingers crossed it happens really quickly for you. Must be such a pain when you have packed up the majority of the house. Love the new fringe and it totally suits you. See your gorgeous sandals are making an appearance on your blog too. Do you know they also do sparkly gold ones too! x

We recently watched Passengers too and I was pleasantly surprised. The first two thirds were awesome and not what I expected. Then it got a bit Hollywood/predictable but I still enjoyed it. Chris Pratt <3 We've got Arrivals next on the list for when the kid has an early night.

I’m so sorry to hear that your moves has been postponed – I hope one day to meet someone who’s house move has gone smoothly! I love your new hair, a fringe really suits you, teamed with the outfit I bet you’ll look fab.

  • Nicki - May 17, 2017 reply

Oh no sorry you’re feeling so frustrated by the house move, its is really difficult to deal with those times when you really don’t know what or when things are going to happen. A lazy weekend seems a great idea to distract and once you’ve moved you’ll be so busy you’ll be grateful for that extra rest. I’ve just popped back from Jenny’s blog and the photos you both took are lovely in such a gorgeous setting. The new hair is fantastic!
