Good Girls Revolt, The xx and my baby’s birthday #LittleLoves

First off I want to say a big thanks to all the bloggers that linked up their Little Loves post last week, we had over 45, which is more than I’ve ever had. I was so excited to read all the posts and get to know some blogs that I hadn’t read before. This week I feel much more like I have my head in the game, I guess with it being the first full week back at school and work helps a lot. In amongst the busyness we’ve also had my littlest girl’s birthday, a day that she has been counting down to for months! I feel bad that she had to spend it at school, but on the plus side for her she got to wear her own clothes and it was show and tell day so she got to take in a couple of her presents.

I decided to keep my subscription to Elle magazine that I gifted myself as a Christmas present last year. It’s the only magazine that I’ve found where the articles and content are engaging and interesting and the fashion is inspiring. As much as I love Pinterest and blogs for style inspiration I do love a good magazine to flick through with a coffee.

Blog wise I loved reading Halina’s Basic Skin Care Routine post this week. As someone that often goes to bed with make up on and has no clue about this kind of thing it was quite a revelation! I learnt loads, I just need to actually put it into practice now..!

I’m part of a few facebook groups and one of them is for women in business. It’s a fairly small group as these things go but one that is super supportive. One of the members Laura, who owns kids wear brand Muklet, wrote a great post on ‘why it’s a great idea to hire an entrepreneur‘ and it’s well worth a read.

This section has to be dedicated to my new favourite programme, Good Girls Revolt. A friend of mine recently recommended it, as a fellow feminist that’s interested in history of the women’s movement she knew I’d like it, and she was right. Think Mad Men, meets Newsroom, meets Made in Dagenham and that should give you a rough idea. Honestly, it’s fast become one of my favourite series.

Good Girls Revolt is available on Amazon prime video, sadly I’ve just found out that it’s not been taken on for any more seasons. Boo.

Another programme that’s worth a mention is Taboo with none other than Tom Hardy *swoon*

You are welcome!

It’s on Saturday night, 9pm on BBC1

As I mentioned earlier it was my littlest girl’s 6th birthday yesterday so we had a fun morning before school eating birthday breakfast and watching her open her presents. I made a quick chocolate cake for us to share at tea time. I’ve bought her cake for her party on Saturday, I felt guilty for like 5 seconds and then patted myself on the back for saving time and giving her a cake she loves.

This week it’s been all about boots and cosy cardigans, so no change there then! I bought myself some new boots in the sale (£14!). They’re similar to my other favourites but these have a heel, which is helpful for a small person like me!

I’ve had quite an eclectic mix of music on my Spotify this week, as always revisiting some of my old favourites. London Grammar were mentioned on my blog a whole lot of few years ago and I’ve been desperate for them to release new material. I was so excited when I spotted this!

Talking of bands coming back, today is definitely dedicated to The xx and their newly released new album.

Any London Grammar, or The xx fans out there?

and lastly

We’ve got a busy weekend of parties and family visiting, so today I’ll be running around like a headless chicken trying to get last minute stuff organised for it all. January is such a busy month for us and I’m very envious of those that have a quiet few weeks in which to reflect for the year.. I don’t end up doing that until February!

Here are my favourites from this week’s #LittleLoves community on Instagram,

If you’re on Instagram and want to join in, it’s so easy just use the hashtag #littleloves on any photo that shows something little that you love – so that can be pretty much anything! I then share my favourites from the week on here and on my Instagram every Friday.

Thanks so much for the shout out lovely! So glad you enjoyed it 🙂 I had such a mental block about writing it but really wanted to as I knew there were a lot of people out there who wanted it. It’s great to know the effort paid off.
Very happy that your girl had what looks like such a lovely birthday!
And I will definitely need to check out that TV show – I hadn’t even heard of it. I hate it when things don’t get renewed.
Also…YES NEW THE XX!!! I can’t WAIT to get sat down in front of my computer for a listen after the boy goes to school. I absolutely adore the xx and Islands was the song I chose for the first dance at my wedding 🙂 xx

Happy Birthday to your little girl, your birthday breakfast looks delicious. I’ve been looking for something new to watch on Amazon so might give that a go, when I’ve binged on the rest of the Gilmore Girls seasons of course. I’ve featured Tom Hardy in my Little Loves this week, looking for pictures to use was an eye opener let’s just say there isn’t any of him I’ve not seen now ! Love the boots they are so pretty. Have a fun weekend x

A very happy birthday to your youngest, she looks like she had a lovely day. Your boots were such a bargain, I love the colour and a heel is always useful when you are vertically challenged like myself.

Your so stylish chic. I love it. oh gosh I need to go read that blog for makeup cleaning tips but I fear I was be ashamed of the damage I have done to my own skin leaving my makeup on each night. OOps and I bet topping up in the mornings is even worse. :0 Good facebook group for small business owners. So proud of all you strive to be, do and are already lady. You are a true inspiration. I wish you the best of luck in all your ventures. Lovely roundup for little ones birthday celebrations too. Can’t believe how old the kiddos are getting. It’s going way too fast. Thanks for hosting. #littleloves

Thanks so much for linking to Halina’s skin care post – I’m 40 and have no idea what makes a good skincare routine, so reading this was sooo helpful! I might stop using baby wipes as my make up remover now! 😉
