This week has absolutely zoomed by! It’s been back to normality with the girls back at school and us at work again. The decorating that was started over half term hasn’t yet been finished, oops, hopefully it won’t stay that way for long and we pick up our paint brushes to finish it all off. Don’t get too excited though, we’re only painting the hallway, there’ll be no big room transformation reveal or anything! I have had a week with some lovely little things though, and I hope you enjoy reading about them.
I’ve finally finished The Muse! Hurrah! I was about a third of the way through last week and then over the weekend I barely put it down and finished the rest of it. Even though it took me longer to read than usual, don’t think that I didn’t enjoy it. Once I had the headspace and peace and quiet to get into it I was swept up in it all. Set in two timelines, Spain in the 1930s and the UK, more specifically London, in the 1950s, you come to realise that two are inextricably connected. I’ve now just started to read The Miniaturist, Jessie Burton’s other novel.
I enjoyed reading through my interview with this month’s featured mum in business, Tabitha from kidswear brand, Lil’ Cubs. If you missed it you can have a read here, there is also a chance to win a pair of Lil’ Cubs leggings too.
I love Katherine Ryan, and think she is hilarious, if she’s ever on a panel show it’s always a must watch for me. She toured recently but on the night she was in our local town we couldn’t make it, boo. I was so happy when I saw that Netflix had picked up her show, the one we would have seen if we could have got there –Katherine Ryan, In Trouble
I’m not sure I’ve mentioned this programme here before but I’ve been loving This Is Us (Tuesday, Channel 4, 10pm). I have a horrible feeling that we’re nearing the end of the season now and there are so many unanswered questions! It truly is a beautiful and heartfelt programme, one where you usually need a pack of tissues to hand!
We all went to see Lego Batman last Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it, like Lego Movie there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained.
I’ve got a balance this week of salads and cake!
My girls have recently moved onto packed lunches at school. My eldest girl is lactose intolerent and was struggling with meal choices at school and never got any puddings, well unless you count grapes, which she doesn’t! So this week I got busy baking some lactose free goodies for her, including chocolate cupcakes and lemon cake.
I’ve used this recipe for Lemon cake by Kerry over at Noah and the Girls, for a while now and I adore it! I made this one lactose free so my eldest could enjoy it too and was relieved when it came out just as good as it normally does. Needless to say it’s all gone now!
I’ve got a growing collection of enamel pin badges, so much so that I’m putting together a blog post with the ones I have and the ones on my ‘to buy’ list. The one above is from Jolly Awesome, and I’ll think you’ll agree it’s perfect for me!
I’ve rediscovered my love for First Aid Kit, while stumbling around Youtube the other day and finding this gem of a performance. America is one of my favourite songs anyway, and this version of it is simply beautiful. Those harmonies! They even get a standing ovation from Paul Simon himself.
If you haven’t heard them before I really suggest you check them out
Here are my favourites from this week’s #LittleLoves community on Instagram, as you can see I’ve gone with a bit of a floral theme!
