I’m saying hello from a house full of boxes, please forgive the lack of photos it’s been tricky to stay creative while juggling work and packing. I hope you all enjoyed the Bank Holiday? For me it passed in a blur of swimming galas, kids parties, boxes and tip runs for us. It was hard not to be jealous of all the day trips that kept popping up on my Instagram feed. I just need to keep reminding myself that we can’t do everything!
Are you ready for some positivity? Grab a cuppa and enjoy my Little Loves, don’t forget you can read lots of other bloggers’ Little Loves by clicking on the linky at the end.
I don’t want to jinx it but I think I could be getting my book mojo back and it’s all things to what is essentially a YA novel, The Girl of Ink and Stars. I just don’t have the capacity for crime thrillers or anything slick at the moment. When I read I want to be swept up and taken off somewhere else, true escapism, and this book delivers that.
As for blog posts another Little Loves blogger shared this post by Suzanne, When Did Ordinary Become Meaningless, and it really resonated with me when I read it.
The Line of Duty was everything and more, and such a good end to the current season. I love that it is essentially one long story line as opposed to just individual seasons. If you enjoyed this season but haven’t seen the others then definitely get hold of the earlier ones, I know Netflix has a few but not all.
Has anyone been watching The Island on Channel 4? This year the two groups are under 30s and over 30s and it has been fascinating. When they voted to remove someone this week it was such uncomfortable viewing and felt almost Lord of the Flies-esque.
Netflix wise the girls and I have been enjoyed The Night at The Museum films. They are perfect family fun viewing and I love seeing the girls in fits of giggles over it. As for me I’m desperate for House of Cards to come back at the end of the month, until then I’m enjoying the weekly installments of Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars and Once Upon A TIme.
I’ve not done anything creative to list here this week apart from making a delicious dairy free chicken pie which my kids wolfed down – unheard of in our house. Sadly there’s no photos as it went too quickly! I used ready made filo pastry for the top and scrunched it up, I think they loved that the most.
Other than that does packing boxes count? I’ve made good headway but there’s still a long way to go. I’m dreading doing the kitchen so I think I’ll start doing bits of it now to break it up a little. Just one week until moving day now!
Oh and of course I’ve mad myself a few gin and tonics in the evenings to make up for not having wine anymore.
We’ve also been making choices on some new furniture, I think we’ve finally decided on a new bed from Made.com
You might have spotted in my instagram stories that I’ve been wearing my new dress that I mentioned last week. I absolutely love it and will be sure to take some proper photos of it to share next week. I’m afraid that other than one day in my new dress the rest of the week has been about jeans and joggers, there’s no point making an effort to stare at a computer screen or pack boxes!
I’ve blogged this week about my new found love of podcasts, Podcasts for Creative Business Owners and Bloggers, where I share my current favourites. They are each so inspiring and listening to them gives me the push and focus that I’ve needed.
Music wise I’ve been loving Sampha this week. I’ve heard this song on a couple of playlists and finally I’ve taken the time to really listen to more of his music and he’s fast become a new favourite.
