Oh boy, it’s felt like a long week. I’m so glad it’s Friday, and for once we have no ballet lessons or swim training tonight on early in the morning because N is at a sleepover. I’m looking forward to a chilled evening and a lie in – let’s just hope E plays ball and I get them. In the midst of our busy week here are my Little Loves.
I’ve hardly done any reading this week. By the time I’ve put the girls to bed and gone for a run I end up flopping on the sofa for an hour then crawling into bed. What I’ve managed to read of The Muse I am enjoying so I really want to make some time to read it over the weekend.
I’ve mentioned this blogger quite a bit over the years in my LitteLoves posts and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon. Sarah Bessey is a Canadian speaker, author and blogger and someone who I find inspiring and more often than not she articulates what I have buzzing around my head, this post is just one of those, On being a Christian and a Feminist. Of course this is written in light of Trump’s inauguration and subsequent executive orders and of course the Women’s March. It’s stirred up a whole hornets nest of discussion (mostly ending up being around pro-choice and pro-life), but I see no discord in being a Christian and a feminist and it’s something I’m very proud of.
You probably know this, because I haven’t stopped going on about it, but last Friday I went to see La La Land (I’ve written about why you should go and see it here). Let me just say that I loved it, I mean loved it and just have to convince the mister to come with me so I can watch it again.
On the small screen I’m still catching up on the Great Interior Design Challenge on BBC2. I often end up watching it when I’m sat on the top of the stairs waiting for E to go to sleep! I’ve had to resort to this after finding pen on her wall and bedding, from ‘playing teachers’, when she should actually be asleep!!
We had some leftover blueberries from a pancake breakfast and as my kids have decided they now don’t like blueberries I had a look on Pinterest for some recipe ideas. I can across this recipe, Blueberry Oat Breakfast Bars, by My Fussy Eater and when I spotted it was dairy and refined sugar free I just knew I had to make them for myself.
They turned out to be crumblier that I expected, but the whole batch still disappeared in two days, so they definitely went down well. I’m making some more this weekend and hopefully some will end up in the freezer rather than in my tummy!
We also made an effort and went out on a date to Manchester for our 11th (!!) wedding anniversary on Saturday night. The mister had booked us into a hotel at Media City and we had drinks at The Botanist and dinner at Gauchos. It was so nice to have some time to ourselves, what with working and ferrying the children here and there we rarely get the chance to have a proper conversation!
I’ve also made a vlog! I’m so new to this vlogging thing, so please be kind! I’m hoping to do a monthly #LittleLoves vlog, so here is Januarys..
Last week I put a photo on my Instagram of me trying on a coat in the changing rooms and wondering whether I made the right decision in not buying it. To be fair to me I was trying to be restrained.. but in light of all the comments telling me to go back and get it, well who I am to defy the hive mind of my followers 😉 They only had one size left and it’s smaller than I usually am, but I rather smugly found that it was an even better fit! I don’t think I’ve bought anything in that size since having my girls!

With the cold weather we’ve been having this week it was definitely the right decision!
I also picked up the jumper I’m wearing from H&M last week. I rarely shop there anymore as the only one we have is in the town centre and I hardly ever go there. My sister in law reminded me that they recycle unwanted clothes, you just bring a bag in and can even claim a £5 voucher for doing so!
I went to see La La Land last week, what, did I already mention that somewhere? I’ve become completely obsessed and have bee listening to the score for much of this week.
Justine Hurwitz is also behind the music from Whiplash, a film that’s been on my list for ages. In fact it’s recently be added to Netflix so I think we’ll be watching it tonight.
I’ve been trying to get to grips with Pinterest a bit more this week. I know it can be a fantastic driver of traffic to blogs and I could do with utilising it a bit more. Now I’m an earlier adopter of Pinterest and have been on there before it launched in the UK and back when you needed to be invited to join. Since then I’ve used it more for inspiration and loved scrolling through my feed. As time has gone on I know that Pinterest has become more like a search engine and people are no longer just using it for the pretty pictures! It’s high time I got on board with that and changed the way I pin to Pinterest. In light of this I’ve set up a Little Loves board for all the bloggers that link up. I’ve invited a few of you already but if I haven’t found you and you’d like to be part of it then please leave your Pinterest link in a comment below. The idea would be to pin any Pinterest friendly pics from your post and then repin other peoples onto any relevant boards you have.
Here are my favourites from this week’s #LittleLoves community on Instagram,
If you’re on Instagram and want to join in, it’s so easy just use the hashtag #littleloves on any photo that shows something little that you love – so that can be pretty much anything! I then share my favourites from the week on here and on my Instagram every Friday.
Fancy joining in?
Just copy the headings and use them as prompts in a blog post then link up below and let me know!
Don’t forget to show some love to the fellow bloggers sharing the little things that they’ve loved this week, by having a read and commenting on their posts too. Be sure to use the hashtag #littleloves if you’re on twitter so we can all keep an eye out for the posts and promote each others.
Here’s my badge if you fancy popping it on your post:
