The start of the summer, Game of Thrones (obvs) and a bronze medal #LittleLoves

It’s the end of the school year! I don’t know about you but this has felt like such a long term, we are all completely frazzled and in dire need for some time off. Even though we’re not going on holiday just yet I will definitely be putting my ‘out of office’ on for a few days, just to recharge. Is recharging even possible when the kids are off? Who knows, either way, here’s to a couple of pajama days!

Here we go then, are you ready for some positivity? Grab a cuppa and enjoy my Little Loves, don’t forget you can read lots of other bloggers’ Little Loves by clicking on the linky at the end.

There’s been quite a few blog posts I’ve enjoyed reading this week, here are just a few –

Inside Out and Beyond – At Home with…. Claire (Clarina’s Contemplations)

Suzanne runs a monthly feature called ‘At Home With..’ and this month she’s sharing Claire’s home (Clarina’s Contemplations). I loved learning more about Claire and taking a look around her home, I’m nosey like that!

Kerry Villers – Tutorial: How to make a Hanging Flower Decoration

How pretty does this look? I’m really tempted to try and make one myself

The Ordinary Lovely – Celebrating the summer while it lasts

I love browsing through Rachel’s blog, her photographs are beautifully styled and I’d love to chat over coffee and get loads of interiors style tips from her. This post is no exception!

As you know I’ve been a huge GoT fan ever since it first aired and so there was much excitement when Monday finally came around and I could get back into the fantasy of it all. I will say that I emphatically did not love Ed Sheeran’s cameo though, what on earth was that about? It felt so incongruous and I couldn’t stop looking at his annoying face. It ruined that scene for me completely. Moving on from Ed though, it was a good first episode back to ease us in and now I can’t wait for next week.

I’ve been stuck for something to watch on Netflix on my own to fill my Jane the Virgin void and decided to try Suits again. I used to watch it with the mister years ago but got a bit bored. Trying it again on the ipad though and I’m really enjoying it.

And of course, Love Island. I can’t be the only one who thinks that Chris should win all of the money..? I mean just look at this round up of tweets and memes from Wednesday night’s episode with the babies. Too funny.

I spotted on Helen’s Little Loves the other week that they made a strawberry flan, and remembered how much I loved them when my mum would make them when I was little. We had new friends over for dinner and strawberry flan was the perfect (easy!) dessert that I was looking for. It went down so well, and I’ll definitely be doing it again. In the busy-ness of getting ready for the evening I didn’t get any photos. Boo.

Biggest girl made us proud with her performance at yet another swimming gala last week and even came home with a medal.

My first monthly newsletters for this blog and for The Start Up Life went out this week as well as a blog post full of advice and tips on balancing the school holidays and work if you are a creative business owner / freelancer / blogger who also happens to be a parent. Have a read here, lots of people have shared their own experiences and I’ve found it super helpful.

tips for work life balance

Last Friday I managed to squeeze in a hair appointment to get those pesky greys banished and refresh the red. I love my hairdresser (who also happens to be a lovely school mum friend too), I do think I drive her up the wall with my ideas and fickleness though!

Friends of ours had their wedding blessed on Sunday and renewed their vows. It was so lovely to see and to share in their day. I wore my new jumpsuit that I mentioned last week. Sadly I’ve got no photographic evidence! I really must train up my children to take good outfit shots. Maybe it can be a summer holiday project… 😉

I’ve heard a whole lot of moaning and stropping from my kids this week, but that’s definitely not in the LOVES category so lets go with some music instead 😉

This track popped up in one of my Daily Mixes on Spotify. I saw Gossip ten years ago (!!) when I was pregnant with Noo. I was right near the front and had a lovely friend keep me and bump safe while we all jumped around like loons! Oh the nostalgia… where on earth have the last ten years gone *weeps*.

and lastly

We finally have a slower paced weekend ahead, hurrah! After months of jam packed weekends this is very much needed. A family trip into Liverpool might be on the cards but only after a lazy morning! We’ve not been to Liverpool for years in fact this is from our last trip there, it’s one of my favourite pictures of the two of them.

If you’re on Instagram and want to join in with the Little Loves community on there, it’s so easy just use the hashtag #littleloves on any photo that shows something little that you love – so that can be pretty much anything! I’ll share my favourites on Stories each Friday.

I don’t think you will be alone this week in feeling frazzled. I’ve seen lots of parents saying how much they need the break that the summer holidays bring, myself included. I agree about Ed Sheeran in GoT , he just looked odd and out of place. Strawberry flan sounds delicious I will have to look back at last weeks little loves. have a lovely relaxing weekend x

Yay for the summer holidays!! It’s so nice when you start the long summer with a quieter weekend (though I don’t know about you, but they often end up being the busiest as we try to get jobs done around the house!). Also congratulations to your daughter for winning a medal – you must be so proud 🙂 #LittleLoves

Ooh I do hope you manage to put the out of office on, I hope to switch off at some point when we go on holiday. Your girl is amazing, she’ll be in the Olympics for sure! Oh my goodness GoT, I couldn’t agree more and wrote similar in my post. We are really enjoying going back to the beginning. Have a lovely relaxed weekend x x #littleloves

Oh Gossip! Loved that song and it’s taken me back a fair few years!! So glad we are finally at the summer holidays! Totally agree, this term has simply dragged! Have a wonderful weekend xx

We are so ready for the summer holidays here as well, roll on lazy mornings! Hope you do head into Liverpool, it’s one of my favourite cities (and I’m not just saying that because it’s James’ hometown!) there’s just so much to love. I’ll definitely be reading that post; I’ve bookmarked it for later. Freelancing and school holidays is always tricky so I look forward to getting some good tips! Have a great week x

We’re completely frazzled too. It was so hard to get out the house this morning. So incredibly excited about it being the start of the summer holidays. Thanks so much for mentioning my tutorial too. Definitely have a go, it’s so easy!! I found it quite therapeutic fiddling around with flowers too. I need to think of something else to make next xxx

Ha ha as much as I loved Ed Sheeran singing that song, I didn’t even have to see him to know it was him and it was a bit like what on earth is he doing there? There’s been so many singers and bands in it now though! Love all the posts you mentioned and your summer holiday post was great. The kids drive me insane over the holidays while I’m trying to work too. Infact I made a little ‘bored box’ for my 5 year old earlier with bits I picked up when I went shopping – he’s been busy in the garden with a few bits of chalk for over an hour (heaven!). Have a lovely chilled weekend x

Ahh well done on her medal. My Charlie came home with one for swimming and was so chuffed. My husband got up in the middle of the night to watch GOT – he’s addicted!

Certainly frazzled and lots of moaning going o here form us all. A lazy day today has hopefully sorted us out a bit before the summer really kicks off. That hanging flower decoration is gorgeous you should definitely give it a go. Your post about work life balance over the summer is perfect – only issue is my kids are up way to early and by the evening i just want to veg on the sofa (or preferably in the garden) and drink-lol! Have a great week x

I just can’t quite believe it is the end of another school year! They seem to fly by so quickly, each year goes quicker than the last. I’m so ready for a slower pace, even though I’ve got tonnes of school work to complete (new job role in September). I’ve never watched GoT, my husband loves it though. Well Done to your girl on her medal, what a fantastic achievement. Enjoy the week ahead xx

School holidays are from Wednesday for us, one more day of school runs to go!
Totally agree about the first episode of GOT. Ed didn’t bring anything to it, in fact that entire scene of “banter” was so dull, like filler. Hope tonight’s episode is better.
The hanging flower decoration looks great. I’d love to try that with my daughter over the holiday. I wonder if I will be able to get away with it as the pollen would fall down…husband seems pretty hayfevery to tolerate fresh blooms in the house which is a shame.
    Have a great week!

You had me at Game of Thrones!!! I’m so blooming obsessed, I’m sure it’s not healthy to be this obsessed about a TV show. I didn’t mind Ed’s cameo but I totally could have done without it. I’ve just started watching Tudors on Netflix, it’s a good choice if you haven’t watched it yet.
