The Best Independent Coffee Shops in Preston – Town House Coffee and Brew Bar

This is the first post in a series of my favourite, and the ones I would consider to be the best, independent coffee shops in Preston. Whether to work from or socialise in, these are the ones you have to try out. Initially this was going to be one post for all of them but on reflection I thought they each deserve their own mention. The first feature goes to Town House Coffee and Brew Bar. I was recommended this cafe by a friend on Instagram and after my first visit I knew I would quickly become a regular. Over the Easter holidays I practically lived in there while my girls were in a holiday club just down the road!

Located in Friargate, the end of town that’s usually associated with the university and student life, Town House is a little gem among the restaurants, bars and takeaways, and it’s certainly not an exclusively student hangout. Whenever I’ve been in there’s been a mix of professionals tapping away on laptops, informal business meetings, international students facetiming family and groups of friends laughing and catching up over coffee. It has a lovely light and airy feel while still managing to create a warm and cosy atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to go whether you’re meeting friends or wanting to get some work done. With this in mind they’ve recently zoned the upstairs and downstairs, with the upper room having more of a social feel and the downstairs a quieter space that often has people tapping away on their laptops, and yes, there’s free wifi.

If you live in the North West or are more specifically local to Preston then do pop in and give it a try. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and of course the coffee and food are spot on. FYI they’ve not asked me to write this post, I just love sharing businesses that I love.

Find them here – 62 Friargate, Preston, Lancashire.

Opening times – Mon-Fri 8am until 5pm, Saturday 10am until 4pm

Gosh it looks more like someone’s lounge than a coffee shop – so comfy and cosy! It looks like a lovely place to meet up with friends or to sit and work for a few hours. I wish we had something like this closer to where I live.

That’s a coffee shop? It looks like the cosiest living room. I would want to move in! I wish we had some quirky coffee shops round our way. Having just got back from Brighton, which is teaming with cute coffee shops, I am thinking that our town is definitely lacking!

I know right? Isn’t it lovely. We didn’t use to have a very good independent shop scene in Preston but it’s getting better and better. x

This place looks lovely! I’d actually quite like my front room to look like this. Do you ever feel tempted to pitch up with your laptop and never leave??? I think I would xxx
