Well hello there Friday, back again so soon?
I’ve had a lovely if not a little stressful week this week. It’s been full of friends and family and fun work experiences too. I feel like when this Sunday rolls around I’m definitely in need of a slow day. I’m thinking roast dinner and then a snuggle watching a family film.
Here we go then, are you ready for some positivity? Grab a cuppa and enjoy my Little Loves, don’t forget you can read lots of other bloggers’ Little Loves by clicking on the linky at the end.
I’m about half way through [amazon_textlink asin=’1473635489′ text=’The Keeper Of Lost Things’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’butwhymummywhy-21′ marketplace=’UK’ link_id=’ce1a45dd-af42-11e7-bda6-a1816dd576b8′]* now and I’m really enjoying it. It’s the perfect book for me right now. I love it when I read it but it’s not a page turner so I can pick it up and put it down to fit in when I have set aside time.
Blog wise, here are a few favourites..
I found this to be such a helpful blog post to read this week. When you’re self employed it can be tough at times to keep focused and motivated. In blogging in particular there’s no one checking and breathing down your neck (well, unless it’s commissioned work) and it can be tough trying to be creative when you feel in a rut.
I’ve always loved Katie’s interiors style and this bedroom is no exception. All the cute prints and wall decals, I just love Katie’s attention to detail.
A lovely girl that was in my youth group was on this week and it was a joy to watch, she’s not changed a bit. If you get a chance to watch it look out for Abi, she is fab and so inspirational.
Youtube wise I loved this video from Fritha. As a fellow introvert I could relate to everything she shared.
So Friday to Sunday we had the Harvest Festival, a Wedding, and then a Baptism! What a jam packed weekend. Here are a few iPhone snaps..
TV wise I just have to give a shot out to Cold Feet. I worry it’s got a little lost amid the influx of Autumn television but it needs recognition for this season in particular. It’s dealt with some huge topics with such sensitivity and it always feels like you are catching up with old friends. Love it.
The mister had an op last week so has been off work and feeling very bored at home. I took pity on him on Tuesday as we went to the cinema while the girls were at school. What a treat! We saw Blade Runner 2049 and while I’ll wax lyrical over the cinematography and the set and everything that was so visually creative about the dystopian future portrayed it was in my humble (and I’m sure much contested) opinion rather too long. The plot was simple and easily guessed and for me just not engaging enough to warrant 163 minutes.
I’m trying to work on both my girls bedrooms at the moments, just adding bits here and there to try and bring together the looks they both want. With E’s room it is, of course, all about the bright colours and the unicorns.
I’ve done a little feature wall at the head of her bed and I’m so pleased with how it’s turned out. I ordered the rainbow dots from the Etsy store – StickersbyAnita and they’re just vinyl stickers so super easy to apply. The awesome print is from Paper Joy and was kindly sent over by Kerry as she is the next feature for my Start Up Stories. Check back here on Sunday to read her interview and get a 30% off code for her Etsy store.
We’ve got an IKEA delivery arriving at the weekend with a new desk for N as well as furniture for the office so I’m super excited about that.
I had another shoot day with Robyn this week and it was a fashion one this time. Eek. I’ve always shied away from women’s fashion style posts just from being too shy and embarrassed. But, I’m being brave and stepping out of my comfort zone and giving it more of a go. It definitely helps working with a fab photographer, Robyn totally puts me at ease and we have a good laugh while we work.
I’ve also been using this for the last couple of weeks after a gorgeous friend got it for my birthday, Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser*
It’s gorgeous and definitely lives up to all the hype surrounding it.
I loved listening to Sam’s latest podcast with Holly Tucker (one of the founders of Not On The High Street), it’s really inspirational and Holly gives so much good advice to small business owners. I got loads out of it. Have a listen here – Small and Mighty Podcast, Season 2, Episode 1 – Holly Tucker MBE
Music wise we’ve been having a few trips down memory lane and listening to bands and artists that were our favourites in our twenties (and beyond). This band I actually first discovered when I was seventeen, when I first heard their album Morning View. My love from them grew more on my gap year being on a team with fellow Incubus fans.
And for the more visual among you.. 😉
We’re hosting a little belated house warming tomorrow which I’m super excited about. Just need to get over the pre-party anxiety first though – any one else get that, or is it just me?
If you’re on Instagram and want to join in with the Little Loves community on there, it’s so easy just use the hashtag #littleloves on any photo that shows something little that you love – so that can be pretty much anything! I’ll share my favourites on Stories each Friday.
Have a lovely weekend!
