Feeling festive, watching films and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel #LittleLoves

I’m definitely feeling festive now, I think having more of a handle on the Christmas prep definitely helps. I no long have that dread and worry, instead I can get on with feeling excited like the children! Of course having the house all decorated and the children constantly blaring Christmas songs from their rooms goes a long way in setting an atmosphere too. I can’t let the Christmas spirit completely take over yet though, there’s still two weeks of work and school to go before we can really enjoy and relax.

Like last week I’m continuing to try something a little different by doing two separate posts, this one jam packed with my Little Loves and one with the linky for bloggers to link up their posts, you can see that one here.

Now onto those wonderful little things, grab a cuppa (or a glass, depending on the time of day..!) and have a read.

I’ve so nearly finished When God Was a Rabbit, and I’m enjoying it just as much the second time around. I just wish I could allocate more relaxed time to really sit and get lost in it.

There’s been a couple of blog posts I’ve particularly enjoyed this week and one of them is from a blog I hadn’t come across before.

Clutter-Free Christmas Gift Ideas – Candy Pop

This is such a helpful post, so much so that I pinned it to Pinterest so I could look back on it for inspiration. It’s jam packed full of good ideas for gifts that aren’t ‘things’ that might just end up ending unintentional clutter into someone’s life. I would love any of these thoughtful gifts, that’s for sure.

Vegan Christmas Shopping List – Oyster and Pearl

Another fabulous, and helpful Christmas themed blog post! With myself and my eldest being intolerant to egg and dairy I often buy vegan alternatives for us and this post is a fantastic round up of the best vegan Christmas treats and where to buy them. Perfect.

watched

I have to mention the new Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs Maizel. I watched the pilot when it aired and absolutely loved it. I was super excited to find out that it had been commissioned for full season and last week saw it hit our screens. Due to being housebound with a poorly child I managed to binge the whole lot over a few days. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. With Amy Sherman Palladino at the helm (you know, she’s the creator of Gilmore Girls, right?) I knew to expect good things and this is on point. PLEASE take a few minutes to watch the trailer..

There’s not been much on Netflix the last few weeks due to season breaks and Thanksgiving so tv series wise I’ve not really watched anything. I have enjoyed a couple of films though, the first one being The Big Sick that I watched with my husband last weekend. It’s loosely based on a true story of the romance between Kumail Nanjiani and his wife Emily V Gordon. I loved it even more than I thought I would, this is down to its fantastic cast and funny as well as endearing story.

Carrying on with the theme of films, I finally got around to watching Bad Moms Christmas at the cinema. It is exactly how I expected it to be, jam packed with laughs and a whole lot of cringe. Definitely one to watch with your friends and not one to watch with partners or family!

I also watched Notting Hill over the course of a few days this week, I’d honestly forgotten just how much of a gem that film is. It has to be up there as one of my hands down favourite romantic comedies, it’s just so iconic now and in my mind the best film Hugh Grant did.

MAde

On Friday, despite one of the girls being under the weather we still managed to put up our tree and decorate the house. Apart from deciding which decorations to use I let the girls have free rein to decide where to hang them on the tree. I think they did a pretty good job. No more letting them decorate and then re-doing it all when they’re in bed 😉

My youngest and I got really bored stuck in the house together on Saturday so we decided to dig out the older, smaller tree from the garage and put it up with the left over colourful baubles.

Ages ago I’d booked for my youngest to go and see Santa at our local garden centre, with her being poorly I thought we’d have to sadly give it a miss. Thankfully however, by the time Sunday afternoon rolled around she’d had 24 hours of no symptoms so we were good to go and sneak out for an hour and keep our exciting appointment. Any excuse to dress up sees this outfit being pulled on and why not?!

She had a right old chinwag with the man himself as you can see.

heard

I’ve been listening to my Top Songs of 2017 playlist that Spotify has compiled and it was no surprise to see Royal Blood, Nothing But Thieves and the Maccabees feature frequently. Of course there’s a few of the girls favourites in there too with appearances from the Trolls, Moana and Sing soundtracks.

I’ll go with one I don’t think I’ve shared before, Sampha – Blood On Me

and lastly

We’ve got a weekend with my in laws ahead of us and the girls are crazy excited to see them. It’s the first time they’ve been up to see us since we’ve moved house so I’m looking forward to showing them around. I think Christmas markets and roast dinners are on the cards for sure. I just need to get the house tidied and do a million and one other jobs first though..

Have a fantastic weekend!

Your trees look great! I want to see Bad Moms but I think I might be too pregnant to sit comfortably through a whole film at the cinema… I’ll check out the clutter free Christmas post as both my sister and I are trying to shop for each other without increasing the other person’s ‘stuff!’ X #LittleLoves

Oh your tree looks amazing hunny so pretty. I still redo a little of the decorating when they go to bed. Hahaha Guess I still have a few more years of that coming. DOH! Love little E legs crossed speaking to Santa like it’s an interview so cute so funny. Love her all dressed up for the occasion too. Hope you have a lovely weekend ahead. #littleloves

The new Netflix show looks absolutely brilliant and you’ve reminded me to watch The Big Sick. Thanks for the heads up on the vegan shopping list, my sister is vegan and coming for Christmas dinner and on the 27th and I’ve been struggling with what to buy and where from, so it’s definitely going to come in handy. Love your tree and E’s sparkly outfit, she looks lovely. Have a great weekend x

Ooh the Mrs Maisel show sounds good… I’m always wary of new shows – I like to be recommended them before I give them a go. Don’t know why. That sequin dress too – SO CUTE! She looks so grown up having a chat with Santa!

I do like how you’ve dressed you tree at the bottom, I’ve been looking for some inspiration. I’ve tried hard not to redress the tree too, although as she gets older Little Miss definitely has an eye for colour and style so its not looking too bad, I’m just a bit unsure with how Mr S got our star to sit on top of it. Love that shot of your daughter and Santa she looks like she’s interviewing him. Have a great week x

Your tree looks gorgeous! I love how you’ve done the bottom – I never know what to do with mine! I’ve been thinking I might re-read When God was a Rabbit too, but I’ve got a huuuuge pile of unread books I need to get through first – oops! Hope you had a wonderful weekend xx

I’ve also been thinking a lot about Christmas gifts that won’t create loads of clutter. Stuff that’s useable/experience gifts are really good ideas. I think I also need to get better at actually just asking people what they want (or don’t want!)
