After a Christmas with extended family we’re now home. The Christmas decorations are down and safely packed away, and I’ve been having a New Year purge of clutter. Though not as much as I’d like, I seem to have given birth to offspring that love to hoard. Not ideal when you’re trying to have a more minimal home.
My girls aren’t back at school until next week so I’ve been squeezing in a little work here and there but I’m definitely not in work mode yet. I’m actually looking forward to putting lots of things into motion when the time comes, though I’m not looking forward to early starts and school runs!
Now onto those wonderful little things from this first week of a New Year, grab a cuppa (or a glass, depending on the time of day..!) and have a read.
I’ve just started [amazon_textlink asin=’0099584093′ text=’The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’butwhymummywhy-21′ marketplace=’UK’ link_id=’d940309d-f18b-11e7-b2e3-2fce9ec0930c’] and I’m really enjoying it. I found it on Amazon after a few click throughs on the links for ‘other people bought this’, you know the recommendations for similar books. I’m so pleased I found it, and I have a feeling I’ll be ordering more by these author.
For now though, I do have rather a lot of books to be getting on with..
Black Mirror! I know this is a Marmite sort of series but we LOVE it. Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones are so innovative and it always leaves me thinking, and often rather freaked out!
Have you watched any of this new season on Netflix?
Before heading home last Saturday we had one last play and walk at Moors Valley. We always go there whenever we stay with the inlaws as it’s only down the road and is so much fun. We had such a lovely time with my husband’s old school friends and their families.
The astute among you might have noticed that this site has had a little refresh. I’ve put up a static homepage and had a rejig around of everything. There’s still more to do, but with the girls still off school, those new little projects will have to wait a little longer.
I’m fully embracing my black, grey and white clothing, after really trying to give colour and pattern a try. Rather than buying things I’m realistically never going to wear. I’m working on more of capsule wardrobe that can be easily mixed and matched. So much so that I’m going through a big wardrobe clear out and putting loads on ebay!
I did make a few little purchases in the sales though, namely this jumper and those wide leg jeans both from Topshop.
I finally ordered myself a pair of Vans too after wanting them for so long!
I’ve not listened to much music this week, I have however, listened to my children talk. A lot. Children talk a lot. All the time. It’s not all been arguments and shouting, thank goodness, we’ve also had a lot of fun. Old school board games like Cluedo and Game of Life have provided hours of entertainment. We had a really low key NYE with friends and none of us even saw the New Year in, that’s how rock and roll it was! After a busy Christmas an evening with food, talking and board games was was we all needed. I put on an Indie Party playlist to at least give us a few party points.
The mister is off with friends in Scotland this weekend, all right for some, eh?! So it’s just me and my girls, I think Lego building and film watching will be a big part of the next couple of days.. oh that and a whole load of school uniform ironing for me!
There’s also a HUGE sale over at my store, Little and Fierce and it’s a discount on everything, no code needed!
Have a fantastic weekend.. and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
