What a lovely, but juggly, week! I love the ease of the school holidays with no school runs, the bit I’m not so fond of is trying to fit in work, of which I’ve only managed to do the bare minimum. Add to all that trying to decorate our house and you get an idea of the week I’ve had! There’s not many photos in this week’s post, partly because we’ve been busy and also it’s down to not wanting to be on my phone or holding a camera while the girls are off. They are bigger now and not huge fans of having their photo taken. Thankfully there’s lots of lovely moments to draw from for this week’s Little Loves round up, photos or no photos.
I’m massively failing at this category at the moment, which is so unusual for me. I’m still reading The Muse and although I’m enjoying it, I wouldn’t say it has me hooked.
E came home from school on Friday with a Valentines Card she’d made, it really did make me chuckle.
The new edition of Elle arrived through my door yesterday, so I’m hoping to have a few minutes peace over the weekend to enjoy flicking through it.
I finally watched The Girl on the Train over the weekend. I’d read the book a while back and although I remember the main plot points I couldn’t remember the detail and so because of that I actually really liked it, compared to many other book adaptations that get my blood boiling that is!
I pre-ordered Trolls for the girls and they were super excited when it dropped through our letter box on Monday. I’d arranged a couple of their friends to come over for a sleepover that night so of course they all sat together and watched it while eating junk food that evening.
A few of the bloggers that link up below have mentioned that the new season of Scandal is on so I’m trying to catch up on the previous season so I can get back up to date. Scandal used to be one of our favourite programmes but I think the last time it was on we just didn’t have the time to keep up with it.
Last night while N and her daddy were at training, the littlest and I enjoyed a bedtime story courtesy of Mr Tom Hardy. Did you watch it?
We’ve been trying to juggle looking after the girls, decorating the house and my work all week so on Wednesday we declared it family day and made an effort to get out of the house and have some fun!
A Clip N Climb centre has just opened up near us so we booked in for the morning and had loads of fun there. My girls are way more adventurous and fearless than I ever was when I was a child. I loved seeing them trying everything and getting to the top of a lot of the climbing walls. As I was climbing as well I didn’t get any photos, but we’ll definitely be back there again.. though I might stay up in the cafe instead..! We had lunch out and then braved Clarks for new school shoes. N was very disappointed that her feet hadn’t grown so didn’t need any new shoes, of course I felt the opposite! E’s grown half a size since September, bringing her to a 13 and a half – at 6 years old!!
It’s a shame I’ve got no photos to show from this day but I was under strict instruction to keep it a family day so no photos or social media, I did sneak a video up on FB from the Clip N Climb though.
Jamas! The best thing about school holidays in my opinion is lazy mornings. No rushing around to get out of the door at half past eight each day. We can stay in our jamas as long as we like.
Now, I’m normally I band tour tshirt and random jama bottoms kind of girl but I spotted these in New Look the other day and impulse bought them (yes, I’m a bit New Look obsessed at the moment..)
They are so comfortable and flattering, and I love the lace detail at the back.
I don’t really get a say in what my girls wear now, and E can put together some rather, um, eclectic looks, but I love what she wore to the park the other day.
The girls uncovered a CD that I did vocals on many years ago and thought it was the best thing ever! I was just finishing my gap year and recorded for a Scripture Union kids CD, don’t worry I won’t be subjecting you to it. It’s cringe worthy enough hearing it myself! Instead I’ll share some other bits of music I’ve been enjoying..
A couple of weeks ago Fritha mentioned in her Little Loves vlog that she’d been listening to Fiona Apple. Like Fritha I’d always been aware of Fiona Apple and thought I’d probably like her but never really took the time to listen. I thought it was about the time I changed that and I’ve been loving listening to her music on Spotify ever since!
I’ve rediscovered my love for The Civil Wars too! Oh the beautiful harmonies, so sad that they don’t make music together any more.
