The Duff, healthy eating and being a work at home mum #littleloves

Welcome to this weeks Little Loves post!

One of my hands down favourite bloggers Sarah Bessey wrote ‘Here’s why I don’t feel guilty about being a work-at-home mum’ and I nodded along to the whole thing. It’s so refreshing to read someone owning the choices they’ve made and refusing to let other people’s judgements make you feel guilty or to question your choices.

My lovely friend Lucy at Dear Beautiful made a very exciting announcement this week, (you can read it here) and I’m so happy for her. I’m also relieved she’s announced it as I don’t thing I could have keep her secret much longer!

This weekend a couple of friends and I went to go and see the movie The Duff in the cinema. I’m well aware it’s not aimed at our age group *cough* but that didn’t bother me one bit and I am not ashamed to say that I loved it. It really reminds me of teen movies from back when I was a teen, you know She’s All That, 10 Things I Hate About You, and even Mean Girls.

The mister was away a bit so I’ve had the chance to get caught up on Mad Men! I’m really sad that it’s the last ever season, but keen to see how they’ll tie it all up.

I’ve not had a very share worthy week of clothes this week, but I have worn this little beauty.. Little and Fierce, geddit? 😉

(New Look Petite)

The Staves have been a firm favourite while I’ve been working at my computer. I’m currently sat in Costa while typing this and so thankful that I remembered my headphones as there is a VERY loud lady having a business meeting!

Those harmonies. Just beautiful.

After a few weeks of eating a lot and moving very little I’m trying to get back on the healthy bandwagon. I read Katie’s very honest fitness update and felt very ashamed when I read another blogger’s comment about feeling overweight and then quoting her current weight, which incidentally is my goal weight that I am currently no where near! Oops! We’re the same height too so that was a bit of a wake up call and a kick up the bum to get moving again.

I’ve re-started logging my food and exercise on My Fitness Pal and that’s helped hugely – no more scoffing the girls Easter eggs!

Not the most low fat of meals but full of goodness.

No added oil and switching white spaghetti for spelt – every little change helps

and lastly..

Thanks so much for all the kind words and support last week. We’re still processing the news and the implications it has but I feel in a better place about it all now. As I said last week I really hate to be cryptic but it’s definitely not something I can openly blog about as it’s not my story to tell.

In other news I’ve been super busy working on my business this month, if you’re a regular reader of But why mummywhy why, you’ll have noticed that apart from Little Loves I’ve hardly blogged. I’m really hoping to address the balance of this so thank you for sticking with me in the meantime!

I completely forgot it was Friday until I read this! I don’t have time to join in now today as I woke up late and need to leave for an appt soon. And I was away last week and am away next week. Will be back after that though! That post about not feeling guilty for working at home is fab. I generally set my alarm for 6am and try to get most of my work done before the kids wake up but sometimes there are times when I have to do things in the day, I feel the same though really and that I am teaching them an important lesson in how to work hard at something you love. Of course I do sometimes feel guilty if I am distracted by something that needs doing though but at the end of the day we are all working to try and make our lives better for our kids so not really selfish at all! x

I think we are all feeling the need for a diet shake up Morgana. There’s something about seeing the sunshine that makes you think ‘oh crap, I better get my bum into gear’, isn’t there? 🙂 I’m using MyFitnessPal too – it’s really making me realise how much I was over eating (flipping Easter eggs! 😉 ) Here’s to feeling our best by the Summer months! You always look gorgeous anyway luvvie! Have a lovely weekend xxx

Oh hunny I love this week’s episode of Little Loves I really think you should still turn it into a vlog too! Your shirt is AMAZING. Hahah I mentioned Lucy’s announcement in my LL post too. Your meal looks amazing come cook for me. I am trying the eating clean fad not sure how long I will keep it up. lol Been feeling sluggish and I think it’s the foods I eat. You are doing an amazing job keeping a business, blog, family and house all in order. SUPER WOMAN never feel guilty about what you have chose for your life. Life is what we make it and those that less than happy are chosing to be less than happy. We choose happiness, we make it and we attract it or the opposite. I love your outlook on life. So positive. Love you girl. Thanks for hosting.

I’ve not heard of The Duff but I do have a soft spot for those teen girl movies (I love Mean Girls) so it would probably be exactly my sort of thing.

  19. April 26, 2015 / 11:06 am

Love that blog post about not feeling guilty. Its made me open my eyes a little bit as i’m forever feeling guilty for doing my small business things from home. very good points made though that its a good thing for them to actually see. but with good balance too. That food looks delicious!!!! Love this linky! xx

  20. April 27, 2015 / 10:36 am

Ooh so many things I love here today! Firstly, Sarah Bessey – one of my all-time favourites too. Secondly, that t-shirt would be perfect for my eldest daughter’s birthday coming up very soon, she’s tiny but fierce! And thirdly, that film sounds right up my street – who cares if we’re too old?! Reckon I could take along my teenagers 😉 x

  21. April 27, 2015 / 7:21 pm

I love the t-shirt, and at 5 foot tall, I should be able to rock this look too, but my diet went out the window years ago. I must get back on track! You look fab, I bet my goal weight is your starting weight – but I’m not telling lol! Hope you are having a great week x

  22. April 28, 2015 / 9:25 pm

Lovely round-up as always Morganna. As a smaller person, I love that T-Shirt. Perfect for you too! Hope you are coming to terms with your big news and all is feeling better this week. xxx

You shirt reminds me of a phrase my mom always said when she saw a small but formidable person, be it successful, creative, smart or some other way.. She’d always call them “small but terrible” with a good connotation to it.
