Our Christmas and the first Little Loves of 2016 1/52

Welcome to the first Little Loves of 2016!

This is a bumper edition as it will cover the past two weeks, I decided that we should all have a break on Christmas Day and not worry about blogging.

If you’re unsure what Little Loves is you can check out a post about it here. I love new people joining in so if you’re a blogger and fancy linking up then just go for it, the linky will be open all week.

I didn’t manage to read a thing in the run up to Christmas but have been enjoying this book in that inbetweeny time where there’s lots of eating and not a lot of moving around!

I’m definitely enjoying more fast paced thriller style books at the moment, there has to be some sort of hook to keep me interested, and this book definitely delivers. If you enjoyed Girl on a Train then I think you’ll like this one too.

I have taken the girls to see The Good Dinosaur and the Charlie Brown and Snoopy movie, both of which we loved. I’ll be posting a review of the Charlie Brown one in the next week or so.

Surprisingly we haven’t watched a lot of television over the Christmas period. After being encouraged by Sian (@pottymouthedmummy) to give it another go I did end up binge watching Jessica Jones while wrapping Christmas presents. I’m glad I tried it again as I ended up really enjoying it.

I loved the BBC Agatha Christie three parter, And Then There Were None it was brilliantly acted.

Did you see it?

What I’ve loved most of all over the last week and a bit is watching my girls play with their cousins…

I was a bit of a whirlwind in the kitchen just before we headed off down south. The girls had a ball making and decorating Christmas cookies and I loved making my favourite seasonal biscuits, Nigella’s Cranberry and White Chocolate cookies.

After the disaster that was my first batch of mince pies I persevered and tried again, this time attempting to make the pastry from scratch, and surprisingly they worked and tasted yummy, hurrah!

The girls got sent these beautiful dresses from Monsoon. The girls were understandably hyper on the day so it was tricky to get any photos but here are a couple. I’ll be blogging about them in more detail next week.

Julianna dress – N wears Age 9

I was very happy to have got some super lovely cashmere bedsocks from The White Company, they kept my feet toasty warm when we came home to find our boiler had broken down!

Noisey, over-excited children count, right? We’ve also been treated to the Little Mix album that E got N for Christmas. My brother in law is a musician and plays in various bands so we’ve been listening to some of his stuff over Christmas, including this very clever one..

I’ve also been enjoying the few tracks that Daughter have released from their up and coming new album. I can’t wait to hear it all.

and lastly

All in all we’ve had a wonderful Christmas and some lovely time off together as a family. Now that we’re home we’re balancing the last few days of the holiday with getting ready for starting back on Monday. I’ve been busy sorting out the Little and Fierce sale. We’ve got lots of fantastic discounts so do check it out, lots to store away for birthdays and gifts for throughout the year.

I’m exciting about the year ahead and what it might bring, I love that the little things are all documented in these posts, the little things that we too often forget.

I tried mince pie making {last christmas} and mine came out really badly, maybe I should give making my own pastry a go? Yours look lovely! Looks like you had an amazing christmas with family! G is a little mix fan and has had their song on repeat all week! Maybe I should mix it up a bit and get the album!

Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy new year.

It looks like you had a fun Christmas, if you ignore the part about the boiler breaking down. I hope you got it sorted quickly. Your girl’s new dresses are gorgeous – did they enjoy wearing them?

I was give the Disclaimer book for my birthday but it’s still on my reading pile – glad to hear that it is a good read though.

Happy New Year! The girls look gorgeous in their dresses and I love your Xmas pics, looks like you had a great time. I’ve heard good things about Jessica Jones but not sure if I like that kind of thing, I am interested to watch though as the girl played Jesse’s girlfriend in Breaking Bad. I might give it a go when I’ve finished some of the other things I’m watching 🙂 xx

Your socks really do look very warm and comfortable and the girls look just gorgeous in their dresses. I had every intention of joining in with this linky as part of my resolution to be more organised and consistent but alas, I’ve pretty much lived in PJs this week and I am not posting a picture of me looking a mess, no one needs to see that. 😉 Happy new year. xxx

Your little girls looked beautiful in their dresses! I adore those socks, my feet need a pair of them in their life. Looks like you had a lovely Christmas, sorry to hear your boiler broke though, not ideal! Such a wonderful quote at the end Morgana. I truly hope 2016 brings you much happiness. Those biscuits look fab-decorating is definitely my worst bit and mince pies just seem a little too complicated for me just yet-Well done (even if the were the second batch)! Kids and their cousins sure are a fab albeit noisy mix and its so lovely to see them grow together-i love it! x
