Quitting sugar, Game of Thrones and Nothing but Thieves #LittleLoves

Quitting sugar, Game of Thrones and Nothing but Thieves #LittleLoves

It’s been back to normal for us this week, no more holiday it’s all about school and work, and after two weeks off it was a shock to the system I can tell you! At least we have this lovely bank holiday weekend to look forward too. Here’s hoping we at least get a bit of sun for it.

I’ve just started another book this week, but I’m only a few chapters in. I don’t think it’s going to be life changing or up there with my favourite books but I’m enjoying it so far.

I have been religiously reading this book however, Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar. I made a rather spontaneous decision last week that when we got back I’d try quitting sugar. If you know me you’ll know I’m not one for faddy diets and can be rather derisive when it comes to diet plans so it’s a bit bizarre for me to be trying this one. I’ve stayed the same weight(ish) since having my girls but that is 2 stone more than I was before having them! I’m only 5ft 2 so there’s just no where to hide when it comes to carrying extra weight. I’ll be blogging more about why I’m doing it and how I’m getting on in the coming weeks but first I want to see if I can make it through the first week before making big statements about it!

PS According to my guru Sarah Wilson, wine has negligible amounts of fructose so I can still drink it! Only a couple of glasses every now and again though. Kind of makes up for not being allowed tonic any more.

Don’t worry there will be no spoilers here, let’s just say it didn’t disappoint.

I’ve also had a big catch up on the TV I missed while we were away last week. Particularly The Tunnel and Line of Duty, if you’re not watching them then you really should be!

I’ve been making all our meals from scratch this week, this is something I pretty much do anyway but I’ve had a to tweak a few ingredients. It’s been all about the salads for lunch..

And this was the closest to a mid-week roast that I’m going to get!

I’ve also been making our new bathroom look pretty. While we were away last week we had our new bathroom fitted and I honestly couldn’t be any happier with it. We’ve got a couple of jobs left to do like get  a mirror/mirrored cabinet and a blind (ASAP!) and then I’ll be doing a proper room tour blog post.

I finally got myself THAT yellow mac from Topshop this week

I also discovered that I fit into age 14 at H&M! Hello tax free clothes! Well the dresses and the tops, I doubt I could squeeze myself into the trousers.

It’s been all about the heavier music this week, I find that I’m way more productive with that kind of soundtrack. It’s funny the impact music can have isn’t it?

Here’s my #LittleLoves Spotify playlist

I’ve been loving Nothing but Thieves, this song in particular, makes me wish I was young and cool enough to still be in a band!

and lastly

The mister and the biggest girl have their triathlons on Monday. N is so excited about it and has been out training with daddy (rather her than me!), I hope she enjoys it and has fun.

Here are this week’s Instagram #LittleLoves. Remember anyone can join in, just hashtag a little thing you love (anything really!) with #LittleLoves throughout the week and I choose a few to feature here and over on my Instagram.

Looking forward to seeing your new bathroom! And well done on the no sugar, did you go through a withdrawal? I literally felt horrific for about a week!! Although now I do still use coconut sugar and maple syrup which is obviously still sugar but I like to tell myself it’s better 😉 xx

My hubby is back on the game of thrones too … I don’t watch it sorry.
As for age 14 clothes I’m pretty sure you don’t need a diet if you can get into those! I’m just jealous … Size 14 not age 14 lol

That’s my kind of music line up! A few of my favs in there, particularly to Strokes, i have been listening to them again this week. I know it’s still cold and all that, but I always want to listen to more music in Spring/Summer than I do in winter. I think it’s because its the time of year where I start thinking about festivals. Thank god you’re still allowed wine, I was about to say what the hell are you thinking cutting out sugar until I read you can still enjoy some naughty things. Ah you got the coat, I love it. Also, thanks for featuring my photograph this week xxxxx

Good luck with quitting sugar! I have no idea what I’d do without my fix. I’m so glad Game of Thrones is back! Peaky Blinders is back next week too, it’s another one I can’t wait for – I’m easily pleased! Can’t wait to see the new bathroom. Good luck to N and your hubby for their triathlons x

When I did the no sugar thing I found it so shocking to find its in absolutely everything, including cereal which is meant to be healthy!! I once had a slice of pizza and my glucose levels shot through the roof. An hour later they were still going up. I’ve started eating cake again but I can never manage even half a slice now so think almost 6 months of doing it had a huge impact. And Oooh GoT! Can’t wait till the next episode!

Good luck with the quitting of sugar. I have fancied buying that book and trying it too but not sure I would manage even a week! I’m working on reducing sugar though which I guess is a start. Can’t wait to see your finished bathroom. Ours was finished 4 weeks ago but the finishing touches (decorating mainly) are still not complete!
