The Easter weekend, Cedar Farm and a little bit of baking #LittleLoves

Did you have a lovely Easter? Feeling so full of chocolate that you can’t even look at it right now? This has been my first Easter being aware of my dairy intolerance and do you know what dark chocolate-no-milk eggs, they just aren’t the same! Boo. In spite of that little disappointment we’ve really enjoyed having some family time together and spent a day at Cedar Farm over Easter weekend. I used to go quite a bit when my eldest was a toddler but haven’t been back for years. It’s a beautiful place full of small independent businesses, cafes and a gorgeous little florist. We even saw a baby goat and these little chicks.

The main part of the week has seen me juggling work, holiday clubs and time with the kids. Just finding the time to write up this post has been tricky! Anyway, here we go lets get onto those wonderful little things from this week, grab a cuppa (or a glass, depending on the time of day..!) and have a read.

I’ve done very little reading this week, we’ve had lots of time together as a family, playing games and watching films, but not much reading. I’m still slowly making my way through The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock it’s not grabbing me though, so I’m considering giving it a break and picking up something else. Like with books I’ve done very little blog reading, in fact I only just managed to read all the LittleLoves posts from last week. Oops!

Five Tips for Caring for Fiddle Leaf Figs – A Beautiful Mess

My poor fiddle leaf fig plant has been looking rather forlorn recently so I’m on a mission to find out where I’m going wrong. I think from reading this I need to give it some more sunlight. I do wish I’d read this post before I re-potted it too.  Ah well. Hopefully with a little TLC I can revive it.

How to be self employed and part of a working community – Lets Talk Mommy

Loved this post from Jenny (and not just because I’m in it! ha!), about navigating being self employed and still finding a sense of community.

Peter Rabbit

Thanks to how much we spend at Tesco I was able to convert some of our points to cinema vouchers and take the girls to go and see Peter Rabbit. I actually enjoyed it way more than I thought I would, though James Corden’s voice as Peter is a little distracting at times.

I’ve tried to get back into watching vlogs on Youtube this week and give Netflix a little rest. I’ve watched a few of The Michalaks but I really loved Fritha’s video of their trip to Watergate Bay Hotel. You know just how much I love it there!

As if we didn’t have enough chocolate over the Easter weekend I decided to make a dairy free chocolate cake! It was scrummy though and used up the left over Betty Crocker icing that my youngest hadn’t finished with her butterfly cakes.

Home wise I’ve been getting stressed out at all the clutter than ends up in our hallway. Everyone has gotten into the bad habit of dumping their stuff where they stand as soon as they enter the house and it’s driving me crazy! This has set me on a mission to rethink where we keep our stuff and plan how I’d like the hall to look. You can read about my chances and inspiration here – Hallway Inspiration for Our New Build Family Home

No exciting fashion photos from me this week. I’ve lived in my dungarees and Vans – not very inspiring!

Janelle Monae

We LOVE this song and always turn it up loud when it comes on the radio. Very Prince!

Arctic Monkeys

You know me, I can’t resist a bit of indie, and these boys are still favourites.

Podcasts and Audiobooks

Blogtacular – The ASA and CAP

I think this should be required listening for any influencers. It clearly explains what we should label as an Ad and how to declare affiliate links and gifts. It annoys me when I see other bloggers/instagrammers not declaring what is clearly an ad or something they’ve been asked to promote. I always aim to be as clear as possible when I work with brands and this podcast with the ASA and CAP gives even more clarity.

I’m looking forward to getting back into listening to more podcasts when the girls are back at school next week.

and lastly

We’ve got a quiet weekend ahead of us before the girls are back at school on Monday. This is the last weekend where there’s nothing booked in until June, so we’re planning on making the most of the slow pace. I hope we get some sunny weather so we can be outside for some of it and not just stuck in the house.

Have a fantastic weekend!

I had planned to take the children to see Peter Rabbit this week but they haven’t behaved that well so I called it off. Fingers crossed we will make it next week. Hope you have a lovey weekend x

Cedar Farm sounds like a lovely place. Your link to the plant post did make me laugh, it’s the kind of thing I’d end up reading in an effort not to kill every plant I buy. That cake looks delicious! Hope you’re having a good weekend x

The free form chocolate sin’t the same, I can remember from when I wa dairy free. Have you tried Booja truffles? It’s such a juggling act during the holidays I’m already panicking about the summer!

  • Mudpie Fridays - April 12, 2018 reply

I love how you and Jenny meet up and work together. Its one of the things which I struggled with when I first started working from home. The dairy free chocolate cake sounds amazing, my youngest is dairy intolerant and I worry he misses out on so so much. Hope you had a lovely slow weekend, being busy until June would really stress me out. But look forward to hearing about your adventures and thank you for hosting as always xx

  • chloelifeunexpected - April 13, 2018 reply

I always adore your Little Loves. I’m always so jealous of your little blogger meet ups. I wish more bloggers lived near me. I think it’s such a brilliant idea to work in the same place together. What a great way to feel like you have a colleague and to get creative inspiration. I’m also uber jealous of your photographer too. We’re going to see Peter Rabbit this week. It’s good to hear some goodish reviews about it! It sounds like you had such a lovely Easter weekend. 🙂 x
