Watching the Commonwealth Games, working hard and starting a new book #LittleLoves

I’ve had such a productive week work wise and it’s been really enjoyable to get back on it after the Easter hols, but I feel that all I’ve really done is stare at my computer screen tap tapping away. It’s been good to write this little loves to remind me that I have done a bit more than that this week. It’s also shown me that I need to get my camera out more – I’ve hardly taken any photos at all. Enough about what I haven’t done, lets get onto the wonderful little things from this week instead, grab a cuppa (or a glass, depending on the time of day..!) and have a read.

I decided to give myself a break from Mrs Hancock and The Mermaid and instead I’ve picked up Little Fires Everywhere. I’m a couple of chapters in and definitely feel that I’ve made the right decision.

The Commonwealth Games

As long term readers will know we are quite a sporty family (correction, my family play it, I watch it!) and so we’ve really been enjoying following the Commonwealth Games. Of course paying particular attention to the swimming! My eldest loved pointing out the swimmers that she met and it’s really inspired my youngest to work harder in her lessons. We giggled so much when we saw this particular interview..

Seven Seconds

Now for something a little more serious, we finished Netflix’ Seven Seconds last weekend and I must say it’s one of the best things we’ve watched so far this year. It’s a US drama and deals with a corrupt inner city police force and a hit and run. It is so tense and at times gut wrenching, it gives such insight into the racial tensions that are in America today. If you’ve seen it and liked it then I really encourage you tweet about it, series like this rely on support to get re-commissioned for more seasons. You might even get RTs from cast members like I did – fan girl moment right there!

Fear the Walking Dead

Speaking of intense programmes I’m on season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead and I think it’s the best one so far. I’m enjoying this a lot more than The Walking Dead, which I feel has definitely run its course. Fear the Walking Dead is available on Prime and if you have an Amazon Prime subscription you can stream all three seasons as part of your package.

This week has seen me really work hard on my blog and the career direction I want to go in. There’s still a lot I need to do but I’m feeling so positive about the direction I’m going in and hope this momentum continues. I love that I can bring out my lighter jackets now, this one from H&M is such a favourite that I actually wear it most days, and of course I’ve got to have a few pin badges. These are from Veronica Dearly and Sugar & Sloth*

I’m getting back on track with my podcasts now that the girls are back at school and I was particularly excited when I spotted that Jen Carrington had uploaded new episodes of Make It Happen. I’ve only listened to the first one so far but I was hugely inspired by it and nodded my way through the whole thing

and lastly

I’m off to Harrogate tomorrow for a swimming gala with my eldest. We’re both excited to be spending the weekend away together as swimming is usually something she does with her dad. He’s got a triathlon on Sunday so I get to be the swimming parent for once.

Have a fantastic weekend!

How mad, I put that book on my TBR list yesterday! I couldn’t get on with Fear The Walking Dead, giving up on The Walking Dead now too. Hope your eldest does well at the swimming gala #littleloves

I think it’s great how much you all enjoy sport, we are such an unsporty family but we did enjoy watching some of the olympics together. I’ve not heard of seven seconds but it sounds like something I would really like. Have a fantastic weekend, I hope the swimming gala goes well x

Another book to add to my ridiculously long ‘to read’ list! I don’t watch sport – the Mr works in the field so it’s always on in one room or another though, but I did catch that interview, so funny! Loved that blog post you wrote this week, so excited for you and the new direction you’re heading in. Have fun at the gala x

Little Fires Everywhere is aces. I’ve had Everything I Never Told You in my TBR all year… I know what you mean about The Walking Dead. Because I haven’t been desperate to know what happens next I’m a few weeks behind but don’t really care.

Hope the swimming gala went well? You know what I never quite know my blog direction it changes all the time, I suppose that reflects my life and works for me but its hard knowing whats best. I loved you post on being an expert and you are right we should trust ourselves we are the experts x

  12. April 15, 2018 / 8:26 pm

I’m so glad I’m not alone in leaving books for a while. I picked up Little Fires Everywhere as part of my book replenishment as I’m finally getting on top of reading again. Can’t wait to hear what you thought. Thank you so much for sharing that clip- definitely worth a watch. And am loving your badge- I think I should come with that sort of warning in work.

  13. April 17, 2018 / 12:26 pm

How addictive has the Commonwealth Games been!! I think because of the time difference maybe? It’s been so easy to have on in the morning’s. Beats Peppa Pig anyway 🙂

  14. April 17, 2018 / 1:32 pm

Gorgeous post Morgana, I love the camp jacket and badge. And yes to Seven Seconds, truly gut wrenching. I didn’t get chance to see any of the common wealth games which makes me a little sad now. I hope you’ve had a good week x

  15. April 18, 2018 / 2:17 pm

  16. April 18, 2018 / 2:40 pm

I am a bit later than usual in linking up this week, I don’t know where the time has gone. I hope you had fun in Harrogate and that your daughter swam well. Loving this warmer weather, long may it last 😉

  17. April 19, 2018 / 12:30 pm

Oh that book sounds interesting Morgana! I started watching Seven Seconds but I must admit I found the early episodes too upsetting and stopped watching. Maybe I should give it another try. I’m joining back up with Little Loves again now after the holidays but this week I was too late for the link up. I usually post on a Tuesday so hopefully by next week I’ll be back on track again! 🙂 xx

How funny was the interview when Mike Bushell fell in the pool? My mum and dad showed me the clip as they were couldn’t stop talking about it. Seven seconds looks great, right up our street, we’ll have to give it a go. xxx
